A keyboard used in a shared room should be judged by the sound it makes during ordinary work. A switch name or a quiet label can help narrow a search, but neither describes the entire assembled keyboard on your desk. Keycaps, the case, larger stabilized keys and the surface underneath all contribute to what another person hears.
If you can try a candidate, type a short paragraph at your usual pace. Include space, Enter, Backspace and arrow keys. A demonstration that presses only one letter gently misses the keys that may dominate normal typing. Ask the person sharing the room whether the sound is noticeable from their usual position.
Compare without confusing volume controls
Online sound recordings are difficult to compare across different microphones, rooms and playback levels. Use them to notice broad differences in character, not to rank exact loudness between unrelated videos. A recording described as soft may simply have been captured with a different microphone distance.
Look at the manufacturer's description of the complete model and its switches. If the keyboard can be ordered with several switch options, make sure the option selected in the basket is the one you considered. A product photograph will rarely reveal that distinction.
The desk may be part of the noise
Test the keyboard on the surface where it will live. A light hollow table can behave differently from a heavier desk. A suitable mat may change contact noise, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed cure or placed where it interferes with stability. Check that the board's feet all sit securely.
Think about your own habits as well. Repeatedly striking keys harder than necessary or dragging the keyboard across the table can create noise unrelated to the advertised switch. Adjust the arrangement so the keyboard does not rock or slide while you work, without forcing yourself into an uncomfortable typing style.
For meetings, make a short recording using the microphone you normally use. This reveals whether typing is prominent in that particular setup. A microphone closer to the speaker and away from the keyboard may help the overall arrangement, but do not assume software noise reduction will remove every keystroke.
Choose the keyboard that meets the room's needs while preserving the layout and feel you can use. If a return trial is available, use it under the seller's conditions before discarding packaging. Quietness is most meaningful as an observed result in the shared space.
